Version History

Edition 5: Daryl Sadgrove, Executive Director, Strategy Performance and Growth – 8/11/2022 – The Assessment, Credit and Moderation (HE) Policy required a review as part of the Policy approval implementation plan.  This review was conducted as per the Implementation Plan requirements by Higher Education Senior leadership team (HELM) and has been updated with minor edits to the text to support clearer explanation. Moderation techniques, that are supported by group and academic collaboration have been added.

Edition 4: Higher Education Academic Board – 3/02/2022 – The Assessment, Credit and Moderation (HE) Policy, previously titled Assessment (HE) Policy, reviewed and updated as follows.

This updated policy includes Credit Transfer, Recognition of Prior Learning and Moderation and details assessment principles in the one policy. This will reduce the number of Policies and make it similar for students. Changes include:

- Supplementary assessment will be aligned to the duration of the course E.g. a 2-year Associate Degree (196credit points) will permit two supplementary assessments.

- One Conceded Pass will be permitted to support completion in the final semester of the course.

- Academic Integrity improvements have been included by incorporating awareness of contract cheating and risks to students.

- The new policy specifies the number of assessments for each subject along with assessment weightings and allows for exceptions approved through governance processes.

Note: Any changes required to assessments (types, number, etc), will not be implemented in Semester 1 2022.

Implementation will be planned and scheduled as part of continuous improvement reviews and be conducted over a two-year period up to 24 March 2024.

This updated Assessment, Credit and Moderation (HE) Policy supersedes the current Credit (HE) Policy and Subject Moderation (HE) Policy.
