This is the first document to be published in Melbourne Polytechnic's new Policy Register. Summary of Changes from Previous Version
Clauses Amended:Procedure: All
Edition 2: Daryl Sadgrove, Executive Director, Strategy Performance and Growth – 8/01/2022 – The Moderation and Validation (HE) Procedure required a review as part of the Policy approval implementation plan. This review was conducted as per the Implementation Plan requirements by Higher Education Senior leadership team (HELM) and has been updated with minor edits to the text to support clearer explanation. Moderation techniques, that are supported by group and academic collaboration have been added.
Edition 1: Higher Education Academic Board – 03/02/2022 – New Moderation and Validation (HE) Procedure.
Previously the moderation procedure was combined with the superseded Subject Moderation policy in a single document. New procedure created with updated title and the procedure has been separated from the overarching policy.
Changes include:
- Use of new terms describing moderation which align with the sector that describe ‘moderating a subject assessment’ and differentiate moderating of a ‘students assessment grading.’
- E.g. ‘Assessment Validation’ will replace moderating a subject assessment
- ‘Assessment Grade Moderation’ will be used to describe the process of moderating the mark a student is awarded.
- Each stage of subject assessment validation and assessment grade moderation is defined and supports continuous improvement of assessment practices.
