This is the first document to be published in Melbourne Polytechnic's new Policy Register. Edition 2: Academic Board – 2/08/2018 – The Selection and Admission (HE) Procedure has been revised to incorporate regulatory changes that ensure greater admission transparency for higher education courses:
- ATAR to be determined annually and/or as required based on accreditation requirements added.
- Lead time to determine quotas (if applicable) and the number of places to be allocated for international students amended from 3 to 6 months.
- Reference to specific IELTS test scores and the Bachelor of Education (Early Years) band removed as these may change.
- Distinction made between internal course transfers for international students (3.8) and transfers to another provider with reference to relevant International policy and procedure.
- Relevant definitions from the common terminology TEQSA glossary added.
Selection and Admission (HE) Procedure, updated with minor change in November 2019. Minor change includes updated ‘International Applicant’ definition.
From
International Applicant: Students who hold a student visa as defined in the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act). Students will apply via the International Office and will pay international course fees. Note: International students who do not hold a Student Visa are deemed to be ‘Ineligible students’ and will pay course fees which apply to that cohort.
To
International Applicant: Students who are not a permanent Australian resident or do not hold Australian or New Zealand citizenship or a holder of a permanent visa other than a permanent humanitarian visa must apply via the International Office and will be charged International Student fees.
Edition 1: Academic Board – 7/09/2017 – New Selection and Admission (HE) Procedure. This new Selection and Admission Procedure has superseded the Selection, Admission and Enrolment Procedure.
The new features of the Selection and Admission (HE) Procedure are:
- The Selection Committee has been replaced by Selection Officer/s.
- English Language Proficiency Requirements added.
- Reconsideration of non-selection added.
- Re-admission following course exclusion or ceasing study in a course added.
- Withdrawal of offer added.
- Deferment of Admission added.
- VTAC and Direct entry deferral process will be consolidated with requests submitted directly to Academic Registry to record and process.
- Deferment of VTAC Enrolment Procedure to be replaced by a new Deferment Procedure (Academic Registry) including VTAC and direct entry students along with relevant forms.
- Non-Award study added.
- Course Transfers added.
- International Office to maintain English language proficiency equivalence on Institute websites
