This is the first document to be published in Melbourne Polytechnic's new Policy Register. Edition 4: Frances Coppolillo, Chief Executive – 16/12/2022 – Student Discipline Policy reviewed and updated providing clarity around student academic and non-academic misconduct. Removal of VET academic misconduct under the provisions of this policy, which is now embedded under the Academic Misconduct Policy from July 2023. The maximum amount to issue a fine amended from $2,000 to $5,000. Schedule A incorporated to consolidate ‘Authorised Persons’, their ability to issue penalties and to whom they may be appealed to.
Edition 3: Melbourne Polytechnic Executive – 13/08/2018 – Student Discipline Policy, updated nomenclature; Increase to fine amount that can be imposed; Increase in time allowed for students to request a review of decisions.
Edition 2: Mark McNamara, Chief Operating Officer and Board Secretary – 14/09/2016 – Student Discipline Policy - NMIT/GOV/D/7/201, updated as follows -
1) Policy mapped to the current organisational structure;
2) Disciplinary powers of personnel updated including a review of the length of time relevant staff can suspend students.
3) Provision for Student Services staff to exclude a student for up to one day from activity based on breaches of the Student Discipline Policy.
