Summary of Changes from Previous Version

This is the first document to be published in Melbourne Polytechnic's new Policy Register. It is basically equivalent to the document that was approved and in effect at the time the migration occurred, except for the numbering system and references, which have been updated to align with the new formatting and current requirements.

Edition 5: MP Board – 25/10/2021 – Assessment (VET & Foundation) Policy, updated to new template and to align with current organisational structure

- Renaming of Policy from ‘VET’ to ‘VET and Foundation’ and some re-wording to be more inclusive of Foundation programs

- Clarification of scope – includes senior secondary programs; does not include Institute accredited courses (IACs). Extends to inclusion of references to senior secondary programs at relevant points

- Use of term ‘senior secondary programs’ in place of ‘VCAL’ 

- Requirement to develop training and assessment strategy prior to delivery

- Requirement to enter results within 5 days of unit/module end date

- Requirement to seek Curriculum Board approval for grading of units/modules at Diploma and Advanced Diploma level

- New ‘Guidelines for Learners Requesting Reasonable Adjustment, Extension and/or Special Consideration for Assessment’ (Appendix A)

- Reference to a new Course Review procedure (currently under development)

- Assessment Tools included to ensure assessments address standards and students clearly advised of requirements

- Grading and results section added, and VET result codes moved to the Assessment (VET) Procedure

- Extensions to due date of assessment, special consideration and re-assessment added along with assessment integrity

- VCAL activities incorporated in the Assessment (VET) Policy

Edition 3: VET Academic Board (VETAB) – 2/04/2015 – Vocational Education and Training (VET) Assessment Policy - P/P/D/7/025, reviewed and updated for currency with the Standards for RTO’s 2015.

Edition 2: VET Academic Board (VETAB) – 26/06/2014 – Vocational Education and Training (VET) Assessment Policy - P/P/D/7/025, reviewed and updated for currency revised to meet current requirements.

Edition 1: Institute Board – 24/10/2011 – New VET Assessment Policy - P/P/D/7/025, approved by the Institute Board on 24/10/2011 and replaces the Student Assessment and Examinations - NMITIR10 rule.
