Summary of Changes from Previous Version

This policy, edition 3, supersedes the Skills and Learning Recognition (VET) Policy and provides a framework for granting Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for individual units of competency at Melbourne Polytechnic. The policy: • reflects a student-centred, consistent and coordinated approach to skills and learning recognition, particularly RPL, across the organisation • supports teaching teams and assessors to develop and implement suitable RPL assessment tools • provides for the case management of applications to reduce potentially lengthy response times • better captures and makes acknowledgement of the amount of work being undertaken by teaching teams when providing advice to potential applicants for RPL • considerably improves applicant and staff-facing documentation.
